Speaking with Militza Zikatanova earlier this week, she expressed optimism about grape harvest this season. She said all grape varieties got ready a couple weeks early this year. She also alluded, “It made our job very difficult to manage the harvest and we had to mobilize our resources in a jiffy. But we are very pleased as harvest is very good & healthy this year. “
Militza also shared with me that Melnik had lot of rain this year and no major storms. It’s good for grapes freshness, acidity and low alcohol levels. Melnik whites generally tend to be little higher on alcohol but this year they are expecting the alcohol levels to be around 13.5. Now that’s a game changer and real positive for Melnik winemakers!
