Villa Melnik’s Shiroka Melnik Reserve is crafted from biodynamic Broad-Leaved Melnik grapes, an indigenous grape variety of Melnik. The trunk of the vine is just a few centimeters above the ground. Grape clusters hand low and remain in constant touch with the soil to absorb heat that helps in ripening process. A labor intensive task but the fruit quality is superior and end product is intensely flavored. Militza Zikatanova, the co-owner of Villa Melnik Family Winery takes pride in showcasing this traditional and fully sustainable technique of vine-growing that is unique to Melnik region.
