San Gimignano, UNESCO World Heritage Site and Home for Prestigious Tenuta Torciano Winery

Most picturesque hill town in Tuscany, southwest of Florence, San Gimignano is famous for 13th-century walls and triangular square with rows of medieval houses. The historic town with a population of barely 8000 people, centers on Piazza della Cisterna. The skyline of charming San Gimignano is dominated by medieval towers, including the stone Torre Grossa. While San Gimignano historic town center is known to be UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also home for 15th generation state-of-the art Tenuta Torciano Winery, managed by patrician Giachi family.

San Gimignano has sustained its feudal ambience; it also offers visitors and wine lovers to indulge in local artisanal products including saffron and white wine (Vernaccia di San Gimignano). Vernaccia is delicious white Italian wine crafted from the Vernaccia grape grown locally in the vineyards of Tuscany. Since the renaissance it has been considered one of Italy’s finest white wines and a fashionable treat for wine lover’s palates.

The Giachi’s have nurtured the vineyards of Tenuta Torciaano Estate for over 3 centuries with 15 generations. They are one amongst a handful of patrician families left in the region, retaining the heritage of historic San Gimignano. As you march through this medieval town, you’ll see around 14 tower houses left, out of 72 that were built by patrician families as a pictogram of wealth and fraternity.

A visit to Tuscany’s “Powerful and Towerful” town is highly recommended and should be in the itinerary of every wanderer and wine geek. Explore amazing San Gimignano and unwind with a glass of fine and pure wine at Tenuta Torciano Winery, while gazing at gorgeous vineyards of Tuscany. Saluti (Cheers in Italian). 🍷🥂🍇🇮🇹
